Well
we finally got the race season started after several rain outs. Things
started off good at Limaland. We finished 2nd in the heat race and
drew the pole for the feature. When we went racing I quickly took
the lead and was able to get a sizable lead according to everyone
after the race. About halfway point in the race I noticed that my
car was getting very difficult to steer to the left. The last time
I checked, turning left is important on a round track. It got progressively
worse and all I needed was not to get a caution and could probably
bring home a win. Guess what happened, caution flag flew with about
3 laps to go. I figured I was in trouble. We went green, Gossard and
Bowen were eating my lunch. Gossard was able to pass me with 1 lap
to go and brought Bowen with him. We got out of lima with a 3rd place
finish.

Back
at Eldora for the first race of the year. I waited too late to send
an update. So, I'm struggling a little to remember what all happened.
We started from the tail of the heat and took the lead on lap3 and
lead the rest of the way. Not sure what the draw was but we had to
start in the 8th position. When the race finally got underway after
a couple complete restarts. I got a great start and slid into 2nd
place on lap 3 the caution flag flew just as I approached the start/finish
line. The officials lined me back up 6th place. That hurt my chances
to win bad. The field is just too strong to give up that many spots.
I was able to get to 5th on the restart and had last years champion
Babcock in front of me and he was behind Dirksen. I followed them
for several laps as they swapped positions. At about the halfway point,
the two of them got together and it allowed me the momentum to pass
both of them down the back stretch putting me into third position.
After another caution, I was now running 3rd behind gossard and burch.
I wasn't able to get around gossard the rest of the race and had to
settle for 3rd position.

Back
at Limaland, we won our heat race. This had me starting the feature
from the 3rd postion behind last weeks winner gossard. When the race
started gossard quickly jumped out front and I settled in at 3rd position.
Unfortunately, we had installed a new steering quickner during week.
However, I noticed that my steering problem was still present. So,
I decided to save the car and run a cautious race. The schools racing
machine got around me at the halfway point. Putting me in the 4th
position. Anyway, after a spin by the 3rd place car and a blown tire
by the 2nd place racer. I found myself running in 2nd behind the eventual
winner gossard. That's were I would finish the night.

It
looked like rain all day. Started the tail of the heat race and finished
in the 2nd spot. The draw had me starting in the 6th position for
the feature. When we went racing so much was happening that I don't
recall all the chain of events. However, I did go into 2nd position
at about the halfway point in the race. The leader Dirksen and I were
nose to tail as we began to catch lapped traffic. At one point we
were side by side going into turn 1 and finally the next lap I was
able to get enough momentum to start a pass down the backstretch.
Unfortunately for me, a lapped car came from the top side down to
the middle of the track forcing me to take abrasive action down to
the inside wall. This allowed Dirksen to get away and I wouldn't challenge
him again. We had to settle for a 2nd place finish.

It
was family fun night. We got to start on the inside pole of the main
event. When the race went green. I quickly took the lead and was in
a pretty good groove and felt I was going to get my first win of the
year. However, on the last restart my care didn't feel the same. I
felt like I had a flat tire, but, wasn't sure. I was the only thing
standing between Babcock having a great night after already winning
the modified feature. However, I couldn't hold him off. He passed
me with about 3 laps left. We had to settle for 2nd and found that
my right rear tire was going down. So, I guess I was lucky to get
a good finish.

We
finally got another race in after 3 weeks of rain outs. The night
started good. We were able to win the dash for cash. I didn't have
a good heat race as the track began to slick off. Finished 4th. This
had me starting the feature in the 10 th position. With the track
slick. It was a little bit of follow the leader. We were able to get
a 5th place finish.

Sunday
night memorial day. The late models were in town so the track got
super slick. I was able to win my heat race and didn't get a good
draw. I would start the feature in the 4th row. Unfortunately, at
the start of the race I had to try to avoid a wreck and came out running
10th. With the track slick I wasn't able to do much passing and was
only able to get to the 6th position.

Well
things started out good. The world of outlaws were in town and started
on the pole of the heat race. We were able to finish 2nd and the draw
had me starting the feature on the outside of the 2nd row. At the
green flag, I got held up on the top side and was able to come out
running 4th. Dirksen leading followed by Brooks, then Babcock. I rode
in the 4th spot watching Babcock and Brooks race pretty hard. At one
point, I think Babcock got into the back of Brooks and a few laps
later his hood would fly off bringing out the caution on lap 7. This
sent Babcock to the tail. On the restart, I was able to work my way
around Brooks and into 2nd place. One lap later, I noticed smoke coming
from the car as a moved in on Dirksen for the lead. On lap 10, as
I got my self in position to make a pass for the lead in turns 3 and
4. My car stopped pulling and I had to just pull to the inside and
ride out the remaining part of the race. We had to settle for 19th
finish.

It
was an exciting night with the nascar guys in town. With the draw
I was starting 2nd row inside. When we went racing I came out running
3rd. On lap 1 I was able to slide into 2nd position. With Craig in
the lead, on lap 3 I got under him coming out of turn 2 and made the
pass down the backstretch. With clear track I was able to keep a comfortable
lead until about lap 10 when I started to hit heavy lapped traffic.
Had a slow car about spin in front of me and had to pinch the car
off a couple of times for lapped cars. With a couple of laps remaining,
Babcock pased me in turn 3 and I was able to pass him back for the
lead going into turn 1. I had the lead at the white flag and coming
down the backstretch a lapped car in the middle of the track was in
my path and Babcock was able to pass to the inside for the win. We
had to settle for 2nd place.

Well
I had a chance to turn a bad night into a good one. However, it didn't
end that way. I had to start 19th position cause of a spin in the
heat race. By the first caution on lap 3 I was in 10th place. After
a few more cautions and paces. I found myself in 5th place with 5
laps to go. With about 3 laps to go I went into turn 1 and the right
rear tire went down. That ended our night.

Well
after 5 finishes of 2nd and 3rd's. I finally got my first win of the
year. I started on the outside front row of the 3rd heat and lead
the entire race. By winning the last heat race I got to draw the inversion.
I drew the number 5, which would put me starting the 2nd row inside
for the main event.
At the start of the feature, I came out running 4th. After settling
in for a couple of laps phillipi would get into the wall in turn 2
and this allowed me to move into 3rd position. I followed gossard
and burch, at the halfway point I decided to try a different line
and started to run the bottom of the turns and begin to gain on the
two of them. On about lap 10, birch and gossard got together in turn
2 and this allowed me to make the pass to move into 2nd position.
To my advantage burch began to hit lapped traffic and on lap 13 I
was able to go to the bottom and pull up along side him in turns 1
and 2. So, getting ready to make the pass I believe he had a right
rear tire go down and this allowed me to go on and get our first win
of the year. Didn't need to get dad a fathers day present.

It
was a big night at Limaland. The Bobby Keysor Memorial paying $2000
to win. We won this race last year and was looking for another good
run.
However, a win would have been better. Started in the 10th position
of heat #1. I was able to get to the 3rd position and with a good
draw. This put us starting on the front row inside next to Tony Anderson.
When the green flag flew, the best I could do was get side by side
with Tony in the first turn. We settled in and the first caution was
on lap 4. When we went racing again, I was able to stay with Tony
and even pull next to him a couple of times, but, wasn't able to make
a clean pass. On about lap 13 of 20, I thought this was my best chance
to make a pass as we started to hit lapped traffic and it seemed to
be to my advantage. On lap 14, as Tony went low to pass a lapped car
I chose to go high and found myself getting ready to make the pass
I needed and the caution flag came out. I didn't need that, I needed
the race to stay green. After we went racing one more time, again
I felt I was setting things up to try another pass on the last lap
when the caution came out again. Once again, this wasn't to my advantage.
Anyway, this allowed Tony to hang on for the win.

Well,
didn't have a very good night. Started near the back in the heat race
with several good racers in front of me on a very slick track. Anyway,
finished 5th in the heat race which put me starting the feature in
the 16th position. When we went herb flag racing, the first caution
came out on lap 4 and we were sitting in the 6th position. Just past
halfway I moved into 4th place behind Babcock, burch and Dirksen.
Looked to be a decent night and with a lap and a half to go my car
went up in smoke with a motor problem.
Finished 12th. Got 3 weeks off. Looking forward to it.

Well
my luck is bound to change soon. We continue to run well, but, can't
seem to get the results. It was hot Friday night. Started the main
event in the 2nd row outside. Came out running 2nd behind Barney Craig.
He had a tire go down on lap 2 and this have me the lead. My car was
smoking the entire race from the right front. When the caution flew
on lap 12. My car had stopped pulling. On the restart, I was still
in the lead. I lead for another lap and the race car wasn't pulling
anymore and I depord back to 6th position. Oh well, that's several
races where we were leading and didn't get the win. Like I said, luck
will be changing soon.

It
was the running of the Steve Brown Memorial race at Lima. Things didn't
start out too good. After a wild heat race I was able to finish 2nd.
However, I had a cracked transmission after hitting another racer.
The crew worked for about a solid hour to install another transmission.
After
the inversion of a 5. This had me starting on the inside pole along
side Kevin Gossard. At the drop of the green flag, Kevin took the
lead with me ticking into 2nd position. I tried several times to make
a run on him and couldn't make the pass. With about 3 laps to go,
we were starting to hit lapped traffic. At one point, we split a lapped
racer with Kevin going high and I went low. Coming out of turn 4 I
got loose and lost several spots. A lapped car cut kevins tire, however,
he was able to hang on for the win. We finished 6th

Not
much to report. Started the main event in the 4th row. About lap 3
we were running in the 5th position when my right rear tire blew going
into turn 1 and that ended our night.

Well
it was family fun night. Didn't get a good draw for the heat race.
Ran 4th. That had me starting in the 12th position. When the main
event started. There was multiple yellows and I was able to get to
the 5th position. On lap10 we broken an axle and had to retire to
the pit area.

Again,
our luck continues to be bad. Got a bad draw for the heat race. Started
in the 7th position and was able to get to the 3rd place in the heat
race. This had us starting the main event in the 9th position. Unfortunately,
the track was as slick as its been all year and hard to pass. We were
only able to get to the 7th position.
